- We collect what you give us (email, name, purchase details) and some technical data (device, IP, how you found us).
- We may use advertising and analytics partners (such as Meta, Google and TikTok), where they are configured for a site, to measure and promote our experiences - including by securely sharing limited purchase information with them.
- Some of your information, including payment information, is processed in the United States by our service providers (see section 12). We tell you this so you can make an informed choice.
- We rely on your consent to handle your personal information, and you can withdraw that consent (see section 8).
- We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control browser signals.
- You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time.
- We keep your information for as long as we need it for the purposes described here.
- Questions, access requests, or to reach the person responsible for protecting your personal information: hello@realscapeproductions.com.
1. Who this policy is for, and who we are
This policy explains how Realscape handles your personal information when you use our Canadian website and services (darkfield.live/ca). The entity responsible ("we") is Realscape Productions Inc (Ontario, Canada). Contact: hello@realscapeproductions.com; +1 (725) 300-3661; 198 Augusta Avenue, Unit 4, Toronto, Ontario M5T 2L6.
This policy is written to meet our obligations under Canada's federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Personal Information Protection Acts of British Columbia and Alberta, and to reflect the principles of Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), in each case as they apply to you.
The person responsible for the protection of personal information can be reached at hello@realscapeproductions.com.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use our services, we collect:
- Information you give us: email address; first and last name; marketing preference; and, for some experiences, optional details such as a gift-recipient email, a rating or review, age range, phone, postal code or billing province where you provide them. Payment card details are entered directly with our payment processor and never reach our own servers.
- Information collected automatically when you visit: IP address; device and browser information (user agent); approximate location or region; how you arrived (referrer and campaign or UTM information, and advertising click identifiers); analytics identifiers; and your locale and timezone.
3. Consent and how we use your information
We collect, use and disclose your personal information with your consent, and only for the purposes set out in this policy or as permitted or required by law. The form of consent depends on the sensitivity of the information and the context: for example, you consent to us handling your purchase details by completing a purchase, and to marketing only where you have actively opted in.
We use your information to: provide and deliver the experiences and tickets you buy; communicate with you about your purchase; provide support; send you marketing where you have consented (see section 7); measure, analyse and improve our services; promote our experiences; keep our services secure and prevent fraud; and meet our legal obligations.
4. Advertising, analytics and tracking - and how we share data
We use third party advertising, analytics, attribution and measurement partners to understand how our experiences are found and to promote them. These may include partners such as Meta, Google and TikTok, where they are configured for a site.
- When you visit our site, these partners may set cookies or similar technologies and receive information about your visit and any purchase.
- Where these partners are configured, a purchase may also share limited information server-side with advertising and measurement partners - including a securely hashed (obscured) version of details such as your email, and your IP address and device information - so that advertising can be measured and attributed. This is described here so you know it can occur.
5. Cookies, "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site function, analytics and advertising (see section 4). You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.
We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals. We describe our tracking here so you can make informed choices.
6. Who we share information with
We share personal information with: our payment processor (to take payment); our hosting and database, email-delivery and infrastructure providers (to run the service); the advertising and analytics partners in section 4; event or venue partners where needed to deliver an experience you have booked; and others where required by law or to protect our rights. We use service providers for these purposes and take reasonable steps in selecting and managing them, including by contract. Some of these providers are located in the United States - see section 12.
7. Marketing communications
We may send you marketing about our experiences only where you have consented. Every marketing message identifies us as the sender, gives a valid mailing address, and includes an unsubscribe link; you can unsubscribe at any time and we honour opt-outs promptly. This reflects our obligations under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
8. Your rights: access, correction and withdrawal of consent
- You can withdraw your consent to our use of your personal information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. For marketing, you can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide certain services.
- You can request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete, by contacting us at hello@realscapeproductions.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
- Depending on your province, you may have additional rights (for example, under Quebec Law 25, rights regarding automated decision-making and data portability). To exercise any right, or if you have a concern we have not resolved, contact us at hello@realscapeproductions.com. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial privacy regulator (in Quebec, the Commission d'acces a l'information).
9. How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy - for example, to deliver your purchase and support you, to meet legal, tax and audit obligations, and to run our marketing where you have not unsubscribed. When you unsubscribe, we suppress you from marketing (we stop sending). When personal information is no longer required for any identified purpose or legal obligation, we take reasonable steps to destroy, erase or anonymise it.
10. Children
Our site is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 to use the site, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Individual experiences carry their own (higher) audience ages, shown at purchase. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security and data breaches
We take reasonable administrative, technical and physical steps to protect personal information, including encryption of data in transit and secure payment processing. No online service can be completely secure. If a breach of security safeguards occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will assess it and notify affected individuals and the relevant regulators as required by PIPEDA, Quebec Law 25 and other applicable Canadian law.
12. Where your information is processed (transfers outside Canada)
Some of your personal information is processed and stored outside Canada, in the United States, by our service providers - including our payment processor (Stripe), our email-delivery provider (Resend) and our hosting and database provider (Supabase). Payment information is processed in the United States by Stripe.
While your information is in another country it is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to its courts, law-enforcement and government authorities under those laws. We use service providers that we consider provide a comparable level of protection, and we put contractual and other reasonable measures in place to protect your information when it is transferred or processed outside Canada. By using our services and providing your information, you acknowledge this cross-border processing. If you would like more information about our practices regarding service providers outside Canada, contact us at hello@realscapeproductions.com.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the "last updated" date below, and where a change materially affects your rights we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Previous versions remain available on request.
14. Contact us
